Children's Letters To God

Dear GOD,
Did you mean for the giraffe to look like that or was it an  accident?   - Norma

Dear GOD,
Instead of letting people die and having to make new ones,  why don't You just keep the ones You have now?  - Jane

Dear GOD,
Who draws the lines around the countries?    -  Nan

Dear GOD,
I went to this wedding and they kissed right in church.  Is that  okay?   -  Neil

Dear GOD,
What does it mean You are a Jealous God?  I thought You had  everything.   -  Jane

Dear GOD,
Did you really mean "do unto others as they do unto you"?  Because if you did, then I'm going to fix my brother!
 - Darla

Dear GOD,
Please send me a pony.  I never asked for anything before, You can look it up.   - Bruce

Dear GOD,
I bet it is very hard for You to love all of everybody in the whole world. There are only 4 people in our family and I can never do it.   - Nan

To See or Not To See

My face in the mirror
isn’t wrinkled or drawn;
My house isn’t dirty
the cobwebs are gone.
My garden looks lovely
and so does my lawn;
I think I might never
put my glasses back on!

Side Pain

At Sunday school they were teaching how God created everything, including human beings. Little Johnny seemed especially intent when they told him how Eve was created out of one of Adam's ribs.

Later in the week his mother noticed him lying down as though he were ill, and said, Johnny what is the matter? Little Johnny responded, "I have a pain in my side. I think I'm going to have a wife."

The Monroe Church of God is located in Monroe Georgia and held it's first service in 1938. We united with the Church of God on October 19, 1940. God has abundantly blessed us through the years. Because of growth and opportunity we relocated several times finally moving to the current Church Street location. We are a distinctly Pentecostal fellowship with lively worship and passionate preaching. We work hard to involve ourselves in the lives and communities that are connected to our church family.

Welcome to all Visitors

Who are we?
Monroe Church of God consists of a wide range of different people, from all ages and different backgrounds. Whoever you are you are assured a very warm welcome at Monroe Church of God.

When to arrive:
If it's your first visit then it's probably best to turn up around 20 minutes before the service you plan to attend. If you are driving then you'll be pleased to hear that there is plenty of free parking. For directions to reach us please see the Directions page. You'll be greeted on the door by our welcoming team who will give you some information about the church and notices of forthcoming events.

What to wear:
This is easy. Wear whatever you feel comfortable in. We are an informal church and accept people as they are. There is no need to dress up to try and be someone that you're not. Whether you come as a suited businessman or a freaked-out punk that is fine with us. Most people dress as "business casual".

What to expect:
For some people going anywhere for the first time can be a bit of a nerve-racking experience. To help avoid any worries here's a quick summary of what you can expect at Monroe. First of all we aren't super-spiritual beings, we all had a 'first day' at church, you'll find we are a friendly bunch, if you don't understand something please simply ask. We start our worship meetings at 9:00am and 11:00am. We spend about 30 minutes worshipping. Our worship time consists of modern songs (with guitars, keyboards and drums), choir songs, and some traditional hymns.

What we believe:
We are a Christian church and believe that all can have relationship with God. We believe this relationship with God is possible because of Jesus (God's only son) who invites us to follow him. We have friendly relationships with other local churches from both traditional and modern backgrounds. If you are interested in exploring the Christian faith then please come along on a Sunday or contact the office to ask for more information.

Is it just Sundays?
Absolutely not! God is with us all week long and we aim to lead lives pleasing to him. We're not perfect and we do make mistakes, but we desire to make a positive difference in everything we do. To further encourage us we have midweek study classes on Wednesday evening. This a great way to get to know others in the church and to be real with each other about everyday living.

For those with disabilities:
We aim to be an all-inclusive church. However our resources are limited so we try to provide for our current attendees. If you wish to discuss specific needs please contact the church office. Our premises are accessible for those with disabilities. We have reserved parking spaces near the entrance. Both the kitchen and toilets are accessible. We do not currently have a loop for the hearing impaired (please tell us if this would be helpful).
