I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world. John 6:51
In John Chapter 6 Jesus talked about Himself as being the living bread. Jesus is referring to us being able to have a personal spiritual relationship with Him. When we pray for “Our daily bread” (Matt. 6:11) we need to remember that our Lord spoke of Himself as the “living bread.” The Old Testament provision of manna was a type of His life in a number of ways; let’s look at several of those ways. First, manna descended from heaven, and at first the Israelites didn’t know what it was; So when the children of Israel saw it, they said to one another, “What is it?” For they did not know what it was. And Moses said to them, “This is the bread which the LORD has given you to eat". (Exodus 16:15). When Jesus came from heaven to earth, “He came into His own, and His own received Him not” (John 1:11). People on a regular basis asked who He was. Second, manna was as white as snow. Jesus Christ came to this earth without sin. He came, and for many people Jesus changed our sinful life and made us white as snow; Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the LORD, " Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool". (Isaiah. 1:18). Third, manna was a free gift from God. Jesus Christ was the greatest free gift; For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. (Johnn. 3:16). Fourth, manna was provided for every Israelite. Jesus Christ came to earth that “whosoever calls on the Lord can be saved.” And it shall come to pass that whoever calls on the name of the LORD shall be saved. For in Mount Zion and in Jerusalem there shall be deliverance, As the LORD has said, among the remnant whom the LORD calls. (Joel 2:32). Fifth, manna was given to Israel after they left Egypt, which is the symbol of sin. We will never taste the living bread until we confess our sins and allow that “Living bread” to touch our lives and live in our hearts. Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians. 5:17 Love Each of You, Pastor Durden
