Monroe Church of God

Side Lines

I've been thinking I would like to go to church, but I don't know anyone.

I don't know what to do, where to go, what to expect when I get there.  It's hard and it feels awkward to do anything for the first few times. Here are some suggestions:

Have you noticed a church near you or one you drive by often? If not, check the phone book. Call the church office. You should find a friendly voice to talk to. (Some churches don't have a full-time staff. If no ones there leave a message so they can get back to you.)

If you'd like, ask to be matched up with someone in the church, any of us would love to meet you even before you attend. That way, you will know someone before you come!

Also, we could pick you up Sunday morning, meet you for breakfast or coffee before church or at least meet you in the parking lot to show you where to go and what to do.

Stop by a church on a weekday and ask someone to show you around so the place doesn't feel so foreign when you come on Sunday.

Just show up. Check out when the worship service starts. Many churches have greeters to help you as you enter the sanctuary. If you'd like, ask them to introduce you to someone you can sit with.

Associate Pastor Wayne DurdenIf the LORD delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’  Numbers 14:8.   No matter how smart or self sufficient we may be, nobody, absolutely no one can make it without God’s touch on their lives.

There are many men and women who boast, “I can make it on my own.”  Please remember this, only God sends the rain and sunshine that causes our food to grow.  It’s God that gives life to the seed and the sower.  God’s Word lets us know He’s the one who gives us the power to breathe, to think, to work, to move, to get well, the list is endless, we can do nothing alone, but all things through Him.  I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. Phil. 4:13. What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?  Romans 8:31.   If God is for you, and He is, then nothing is impossible.  For with God nothing will be impossible. Luke. 1:37.

God’s provision for our lives is backed by His promises. For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us. 2 Corinthians 1:20.  One of the greatest scriptures in terms of God supplying our needs is found in Psalm. 37:25 I have been young, and now am old; Yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, Nor his descendants begging bread.  God’s provision is for all our needs, salvation, finances, healings, diseases, you name it, God’s got the answer.  God help us to allow faith to explode in our soul and see God work miracles in our lives.

Love Each of You,  Pastor Durden
