My Utmost for His Highest. "Lord, I will follow Thee; but . . ." Luke 9:61 Supposing God tells you to do something which is an enormous test to your common sense, what are you going to do? Hang back? If you get into the habit of doing a thing in the physical domain, you will do it every time until you break the habit determinedly; and the same is true spiritually. Read More...

The Answer For Evil. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good. (Psalm 53:1)

How it was that 60 million perished following the Bolshevik revolution? 'Men have forgotten God' - that's why all this happened. All attempts to find a way out of the plight of today's world are fruitless unless we redirect our consciousness, in repentance, to the Creator of all: Without this, no exit will be illumined, and we shall seek it in vain." - Alexander Solzhenitsyn

Associate Pastor Wayne Durden And it came to pass, that, as he was praying in a certain place, when he ceased, one of his disciples said unto him, Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples. And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name. Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.  (Luke 11:1 - 4)

In spite of many skeptics, doubters, and unbelievers, the God we serve is real and alive and an awesome God.

Many people treat prayer like a spare tire or windshield wipers, to use only when they think they need God.  Then there are those who treat the Lord’s prayer mechanically and repeat in a superstitious manner with mere words of repetition thinking that will help.  It makes no difference how often you repeat certain prayers and/or the Lord’s prayer, it must come from the heart. Jesus did not intend for us just to memorize this or any other prayer. It is not some kind of monument, but rather a pattern for prayer.  This prayer is not something to repeat just to make you feel better.  When prayed from our heart, it will touch the heart of God and things will change in our lives.

We must remind ourselves that Jesus spent time in prayer, talking to His heavenly Father. If our Savior did this, how much more should we!  I say "Oh!  God help us".  Jesus put the Father first, who is first in our lives?  Praise God that we can pray.

For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.  Seeing then that we have a great High Priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. For we do not have a High Priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy and find grace to help in time of need. (Heb. 4:12-16).

In Love and Prayer, Pastor Durden
