Psalms 1:1-3. Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

Associate Pastor Wayne Durden For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. (Romans 8:15,16)

I’ve said it so many times, what an honor and privilege to pray, to commune with our heavenly Father. The God we serve is real, He is alive, He loves and cares for each of us.

We all know the Lord’s prayer is a model prayer for believers. It could be said that prayer is like an atlas, leading us to the unreachable riches of God. Now it came to pass, as He was praying in a certain place, when He ceased, that one of His disciples said to Him, “Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” So He said to them, “When you pray, say: Our Father in heaven, Hallowed be Your name. Your kingdom come. Your will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Give us day by day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, For we also forgive everyone who is indebted to us. And do not lead us into temptation, But deliver us from the evil one.” (Luke 11:1-4).

This Prayer was Jesus’ direct response to the request from one of His disciples, “Lord teach us to pray”. Prayer presents the power and holiness of God. It gives us protection from evil. This model of prayer places a huge priority on prayer. God forbid that we will never forget prayer is our life line. Jesus didn’t teach His disciples how to teach or preach, or grow a church, but how to pray.

All that God is and all that God has is only available to the person who prays. It is marvelous when others pray for us, but we must pray for ourselves. Please don’t forget, you are not a christian until you come to Christ. (Acts 4:12). You may be a good moral person, go to church, a good citizen, but no one comes to the Father except through Jesus Christ. Jesus said to him, “I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me. (John 14:6).

Is He our personal Savior, He wants to be. Jesus said come and dine, the master called, come and dine?
