2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.

What's a biblical worldview?

A biblical worldview is based on the infallible Word of God. When you believe the Bible is entirely true, then you allow it to be the foundation of everything you say and do. That means, for instance, you take seriously the mandate in Romans 13 to honor the governing authorities by researching the candidates and issues, making voting a priority.

Do you have a biblical worldview? Answer the following questions, based on claims found in the Bible and which George Barna used in his survey:

  • Do absolute moral truths exist?
  • Is absolute truth defined by the Bible?
  • Did Jesus Christ live a sinless life?
  • Is God the all-powerful and all-knowing Creator of the universe, and does He still rule it today?
  • Is salvation a gift from God that cannot be earned?
  • Is Satan real?
  • Does a Christian have a responsibility to share his or her faith in Christ with other people?
  • Is the Bible accurate in all of its teachings?

Did you answer yes to these? Only 9 percent of "born- again" believers did. But what's more important than your yes to these questions is whether your life shows it. Granted, we are all sinners and fall short, but most of our gut reactions will reflect what we deep-down, honest-to-goodness believe to be real and true.

Hear the supplication of your servant and of your people Israel when they pray toward this place. Hear from heaven, Your dwelling place, and when You hear, forgive. 1 Kings 8:30

I have made this statement for years to the people I've had the privilege of ministering to; "for prayer to be effective, we must ask in specific terms". We must know what we want. God help us to say what we want and/or need very clearly so when the answer comes, we'll know it is from God. Jesus taught us to pray, "Give us this day our daily bread" in Matthew 6:11. "Give us" is who;  "this day" is when; "our daily bread." is what. Pray specifically.

We cannot go around with unconfessed sin in our lives and expect God to answer our prayers, it just won't happen; how do I know this? The Bible declares that "If I regard iniquity (sin) in my heart, the Lord will not hear me." (Psalms 66:18). It is as simple as this: If there is sin in our lives, God will not hear.

Jesus forgave us of our sins, we are not to live in sin any longer; "Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new" (2 Corinthians 5:17). On a daily basis I search my heart and say "God, if there is sin in my life, please forgive me, show me the error of my way, I repent before You Lord, help me to live a clean life".

We must take the time to allow God to work in our lives. Read the following Bible passage on a regular basis from Romans 8:14 "For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God." and let this verse be your spiritual guide. We serve a prayer-answering God, Amen.
