Monroe Church of God

Side Lines

I've been thinking I would like to go to church, but I don't know anyone.

I don't know what to do, where to go, what to expect when I get there.  It's hard and it feels awkward to do anything for the first few times. Here are some suggestions:

Have you noticed a church near you or one you drive by often? If not, check the phone book. Call the church office. You should find a friendly voice to talk to. (Some churches don't have a full-time staff. If no ones there leave a message so they can get back to you.)

If you'd like, ask to be matched up with someone in the church, any of us would love to meet you even before you attend. That way, you will know someone before you come!

Also, we could pick you up Sunday morning, meet you for breakfast or coffee before church or at least meet you in the parking lot to show you where to go and what to do.

Stop by a church on a weekday and ask someone to show you around so the place doesn't feel so foreign when you come on Sunday.

Just show up. Check out when the worship service starts. Many churches have greeters to help you as you enter the sanctuary. If you'd like, ask them to introduce you to someone you can sit with.

"In fact, no one can enter a strong man's house and carry off his possessions unless he first ties up the strong man. Then he can rob his house."  Mark 3:27

We are challenged throughout God’s word to pray for one another and to join in unison with our prayer efforts.  Two in agreement can do more than two million in discord. “Again I say  to you that if two of you agree on earth concerning anything that they ask, it will be done for them by My Father in heaven.”  (Matthew  18:19). It’s a principle that has been true since Jesus sent out His first disciples-two by two; “After these things the Lord appointed seventy others also, and sent them two by two before His face into every city and place where He Himself was about to go.“  (Luke 10:1).  He gave them authority over serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy; “ Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” (Luke 10:19)

God’s word said, we don’t wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers; “For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age,  against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places.” (Ephesians 6:12).  These forces will attack every area of our lives, our homes, our health, our finances, and even our peace, note John. 10:10; “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life, and that they may have it more abundantly.”.  We are powerless to stop them in our own strength.

We should find someone to partner with on a regular basis in prayer and bind together and let God perform His miraculous works in our lives, our families, and in our churches.  He’ll do it.  OH!  God touch us again.  Pray Until Something Happens.

You’re loved, Pastor Durden
