Children's Letters To God

Dear GOD,
Did you mean for the giraffe to look like that or was it an  accident?   - Norma

Dear GOD,
Instead of letting people die and having to make new ones,  why don't You just keep the ones You have now?  - Jane

Dear GOD,
Who draws the lines around the countries?    -  Nan

Dear GOD,
I went to this wedding and they kissed right in church.  Is that  okay?   -  Neil

Dear GOD,
What does it mean You are a Jealous God?  I thought You had  everything.   -  Jane

Dear GOD,
Did you really mean "do unto others as they do unto you"?  Because if you did, then I'm going to fix my brother!
 - Darla

Dear GOD,
Please send me a pony.  I never asked for anything before, You can look it up.   - Bruce

Dear GOD,
I bet it is very hard for You to love all of everybody in the whole world. There are only 4 people in our family and I can never do it.   - Nan

To See or Not To See

My face in the mirror
isn’t wrinkled or drawn;
My house isn’t dirty
the cobwebs are gone.
My garden looks lovely
and so does my lawn;
I think I might never
put my glasses back on!

Side Pain

At Sunday school they were teaching how God created everything, including human beings. Little Johnny seemed especially intent when they told him how Eve was created out of one of Adam's ribs.

Later in the week his mother noticed him lying down as though he were ill, and said, Johnny what is the matter? Little Johnny responded, "I have a pain in my side. I think I'm going to have a wife."

Associate Pastor Wayne Durden"Righteousness guards him whose way is blameless, But wickedness overthrows the sinner."  (Proverbs 13:6)

Wow!  What a scripture, "righteousness guards him whose way is blameless, but wickedness overthrows the sinner" Oh! how wonderful it is to be a Christian. Please allow me to say right off the bat, even in the day we're living, we can live a holy, godly life, through the power of Christ.

The Bible book of Ephesians in chapter 6 talks about the breastplate, this was the soldier's defensive armor which protected the heart and other vital organs. This breastplate and/or vest was made of metal plates. The enemy would look for weak spots and aim to shoot their arrows through this weak spot.  Paul challenges us to put on the breastplate of righteousness (Ephesians 6:14).

An Old Testament parallel to this New Testament scripture is found in Proverbs. 4:23, "Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life." Isn't this powerful!  Scripture tells us the heart left unguarded can be very wicked. Consider these facts about the heart for it determines your thoughts, and your thoughts determine your speech.  Your speech determines your actions, your actions your destiny. The attitude of the heart is vital to your well-being

The Bible reference of 1 Thessalonians 5:8 let's us know the breastplate of righteousness is the breastplate of faith and love.  This breastplate is not made of works or any other religious ceremony for these produces an heart void of the power of God.  No righteousness of our own will stand for in fact we have no righteousness of our own.

We are made spiritually complete by the works of Christ and the blood of the cross, Praise God.  "For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him." (2 Corinthians 5:21).
