Let every soul be subject to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and the authorities that exist are appointed by God. (Romans 13:1) For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. (Romans 8:14)
God forbid that we ever take God's authority and divinity for granted, for He is God and besides Him there is non-other. When we search the scripture we discover some powerful things about God's authority.
God is the source of all authority in heaven and in earth-period. Let's briefly look at God's creation; the earth, the sun, the moon, the stars, even the ocean tides all move and function under God's authority. God's word talks about angels, who are messengers of God, but they also move as directed by God. Our arch enemy Satan at one time was an angel of who sinned against God and was thrown out of heaven. We know the story of Adam and Eve who blantanly disregarded God's authority thus causing sin on all humanity and we've had major problems since. But "praise God" a better day is coming. It is impossible for christians to do the will of God unless we are under the authority of God. Remember we are not our own, we have been bought with a great price, the shed blood of Jesus Christ.
Jesus was even under authority of our great God. Then Jesus said to them, “When you lift up the Son of Man, then you will know that I am He, and that I do nothing of Myself; but as My Father taught Me, I speak these things (John 8:28). If Jesus did this how much more should we. For us to say "I can't do this" is to say God is a liar. I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me (Philipians 4:13). And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philipians 4:19).
Although we are to obey the laws of our land as long as they do not violate scripture, as christians we are to be subjects of the governement of God. I close with this thought, praise God our commander-in-chief doesn't ever change. Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8).
