What's a biblical worldview?

A biblical worldview is based on the infallible Word of God. When you believe the Bible is entirely true, then you allow it to be the foundation of everything you say and do. That means, for instance, you take seriously the mandate in Romans 13 to honor the governing authorities by researching the candidates and issues, making voting a priority.

Do you have a biblical worldview? Answer the following questions, based on claims found in the Bible and which George Barna used in his survey:

  • Do absolute moral truths exist?
  • Is absolute truth defined by the Bible?
  • Did Jesus Christ live a sinless life?
  • Is God the all-powerful and all-knowing Creator of the universe, and does He still rule it today?
  • Is salvation a gift from God that cannot be earned?
  • Is Satan real?
  • Does a Christian have a responsibility to share his or her faith in Christ with other people?
  • Is the Bible accurate in all of its teachings?

Did you answer yes to these? Only 9 percent of "born- again" believers did. But what's more important than your yes to these questions is whether your life shows it. Granted, we are all sinners and fall short, but most of our gut reactions will reflect what we deep-down, honest-to-goodness believe to be real and true.

Associate Pastor Wayne DurdenWow!  By the time you get this newsletter it'll be a New Year.  The age old thought arises, where does "time go". A lot has gone on in 2008, some good, some bad, but amongst it all there's one constant, our God has been faithful.

No doubt we've all heard the gloom and doom that's been predicted for this year and no doubt there will be a lot of difficulties, a lot of problems to deal with, but may I remind us, our God will be faithful.  The bible challenges us to look to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith, let's keep our eyes on Jesus.  Note!  These scriptures, read them often this year.


Galatians 6:9 (New King James Version)

And let us not grow weary while doing good, for in due season we shall reap if we do not lose heart.


Romans 8:28-39 (New King James Version)

28 And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 29 For whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brethren. 30 Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified.

13 No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.

 

Oh! God show us your glory this year, He wants to lead us, will we let Him?  Because the reason for every season is on the throne, we're going to have a great year in spite of whatever.
