Monroe Church of God

I've been thinking I would like to go to church, but I don't know anyone.

I don't know what to do, where to go, what to expect when I get there.  It's hard and it feels awkward to do anything for the first few times. Here are some suggestions:

Have you noticed a church near you or one you drive by often? If not, check the phone book. Call the church office. You should find a friendly voice to talk to. (Some churches don't have a full-time staff. If no ones there leave a message so they can get back to you.)

If you'd like, ask to be matched up with someone in the church, any of us would love to meet you even before you attend. That way, you will know someone before you come!

Also, we could pick you up Sunday morning, meet you for breakfast or coffee before church or at least meet you in the parking lot to show you where to go and what to do.

Stop by a church on a weekday and ask someone to show you around so the place doesn't feel so foreign when you come on Sunday.

Just show up. Check out when the worship service starts. Many churches have greeters to help you as you enter the sanctuary. If you'd like, ask them to introduce you to someone you can sit with.

waynedurden.jpgSo Noah awoke from his wine, and knew what his younger son had done to him.  Then he said: “Cursed be Canaan; A servant of servants He shall be to his brethren.” Genesis 9:24-25

I keep saying it because so many take their relationship with Jesus Christ for granted. Don’t for your soul’s sake take this vital relationship for granted.  Remember God’s word, what will a person give in exchange for his or her soul?

Note! This example, as the husband and leader of your family, the spiritual authority in your house, we must be careful what we say about our wife and children.  (Proverbs 18:21) declares that “death and life are in the power of the tongue.”  Don’t call your child dumb or some other derogatory thing; in doing so you are cursing that child’s ability to learn, thus possibly hindering that child for life with your tongue.

Words according to the bible have power to give life and heal, but they also can destroy.  Our family will live under the fruit of what we say; it will either be a blessing or a curse.

Note! What the bible records about Ham, who was the son of Noah, Ham shamed his father, and we discover that he and his son Canaan were placed under a curse.  God has set up His kingdom where everything accomplished is by spiritual authority.  When people mock God, they are mocking His kingdom authority, when this happens look out the judgment of God is on its way, this kind of curse can follow from generation to generation, until it is broken on Calvary’s cross.  Praise God the blood has never lost its power, men and women are still being delivered today.  Praise His name, I’m redeemed.
