My Utmost for His Highest."Lord, I will follow Thee; but . . ." Luke 9:61 Supposing God tells you to do something which is an enormous test to your common sense, what are you going to do? Hang back? If you get into the habit of doing a thing in the physical domain, you will do it every time until you break the habit determinedly; and the same is true spiritually. Read More...
The Answer For Evil. The fool hath said in his heart, There is no God. Corrupt are they, and have done abominable iniquity: there is none that doeth good. (Psalm 53:1)
How it was that 60 million perished following the Bolshevik revolution? 'Men have forgotten God' - that's why all this happened. All attempts to find a way out of the plight of today's world are fruitless unless we redirect our consciousness, in repentance, to the Creator of all: Without this, no exit will be illumined, and we shall seek it in vain." - Alexander Solzhenitsyn
Like a flitting sparrow, like a flying swallow, So a curse without cause shall not alight. Proverbs 26:2
According to our scripture text there are some undeserving curses. Please note these three examples of failing curses; On that day they read from the Book of Moses in the hearing of the people, and in it was found written that no Ammonite or Moabite should ever come into the assembly of God, because they had not met the children of Israel with bread and water, but hired Balaam against them to curse them. However, our God turned the curse into a blessing. (Nehemiah 13:1-2)
And when the Philistine looked about and saw David, he disdained him; for he was only a youth, ruddy and good-looking. So the Philistine said to David, "Am I a dog, that you come to me with sticks?" And the Philistine cursed David by his gods. (1 Samuel. 17:42-43)
Now when King David came to Bahurim, there was a man from the family of the house of Saul, whose name was Shimei the son of Gera, coming from there. He came out, cursing continuously as he came. It may be that the LORD will look on my affliction, and that the LORD will repay me with good for his cursing this day." (2 Samuel. 16:5, 12)
But there are some very real curses dealt with in God's word for example a father can place a curse upon his family by crooked business deals. Whoever rewards evil for good, Evil will not depart from his house. (Proverbs 17:13). We cannot return evil for good, evil will stalk our family for generations.
God's word declares the sins of the father are passed down to the children to the third and fourth generation. "You shall not make for yourself a carved image-any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth; you shall not bow down to them nor serve them. For I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generations of those who hate Me, but showing mercy to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments. (Exodus 20:4-5). Another cause for curses are false gods, anything that takes the place of our worship of Jesus Christ as our Lord must be dealt with and moved if not we open our lives for the enemy of our souls to come in and destroy us. Another example is anti-semitism (hating of Jews) will bring a curse from God.
In the Bible book of Genesis 12:3, God anoints Abraham to speak a powerful word, I will bless those who bless you, and I will curse him who curses you. Don't forget the Jewish people gave us the Savior, the prophets, the patriarchs and the word of God, we must bless them. I challenge each of us, to look to Jesus the author and finisher of our faith.
