I've been thinking I would like to go to church, but I don't know anyone.
I don't know what to do, where to go, what to expect when I get there. It's hard and it feels awkward to do anything for the first few times. Here are some suggestions:
Have you noticed a church near you or one you drive by often? If not, check the phone book. Call the church office. You should find a friendly voice to talk to. (Some churches don't have a full-time staff. If no ones there leave a message so they can get back to you.)
If you'd like, ask to be matched up with someone in the church, any of us would love to meet you even before you attend. That way, you will know someone before you come!
Also, we could pick you up Sunday morning, meet you for breakfast or coffee before church or at least meet you in the parking lot to show you where to go and what to do.
Stop by a church on a weekday and ask someone to show you around so the place doesn't feel so foreign when you come on Sunday.
Just show up. Check out when the worship service starts. Many churches have greeters to help you as you enter the sanctuary. If you'd like, ask them to introduce you to someone you can sit with.
Now may the God of peace Himself sanctify you completely; and may your whole spirit, soul, and body be preserved blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ. 1 Thessalonians 5:23
Praise God for the sanctifying power of almighty God. The body, soul and spirit of human kind is seen in a great way through the tabernacle.
For example the outer court represents the body. In the outer court, everything is received by natural sunlight. It speaks of the carnal reasoning of human kind. If we live by reason alone, we will never walk in and/or experience the supernatural power of our great God, what a tragedy that would be. Luke 1:37 still says, “For with God nothing will be impossible.” We must never make the mistake of limiting God by our intellect or so called experience.
Looking further at the tabernacle the Holy Place is a type of a soul. When you walk out of the outer court in to the Holy Place, it’s totally dark inside. The only source of revelation is the light from the lamp stand. According to (John 8:12) Jesus Christ is the “light of the world”, He was, He is, and will always be the light of the world, is this light on in your life? John 15:7, Jesus said, “If (a big word) ye abide in me and my words abide in you, ye shall ask whatsoever ye will and it shall be done unto you.” When we abide in His word and His will, He will begin to illuminate you. I say God show us your glory again.
