2 Chronicles 7:14 If my people, which are called by my name, shall humblethemselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land.
A biblical worldview is based on the infallible Word of God. When you believe the Bible is entirely true, then you allow it to be the foundation of everything you say and do. That means, for instance, you take seriously the mandate in Romans 13 to honor the governing authorities by researching the candidates and issues, making voting a priority.
Do you have a biblical worldview? Answer the following questions, based on claims found in the Bible and which George Barna used in his survey:
Do absolute moral truths exist?
Is absolute truth defined by the Bible?
Did Jesus Christ live a sinless life?
Is God the all-powerful and all-knowing Creator of the universe, and does He still rule it today?
Is salvation a gift from God that cannot be earned?
Is Satan real?
Does a Christian have a responsibility to share his or her faith in Christ with other people?
Is the Bible accurate in all of its teachings?
Did you answer yes to these? Only 9 percent of "born- again" believers did. But what's more important than your yes to these questions is whether your life shows it. Granted, we are all sinners and fall short, but most of our gut reactions will reflect what we deep-down, honest-to-goodness believe to be real and true.
He made the laver of bronze and its base of bronze, from the bronze mirrors of the serving women who assembled at the door of the tabernacle of meeting. (Exodus 38:8) The entrance of Your words gives light; It gives understanding to the simple. (Psalm 119:130)
The word of God, oh! What an intriguing book, the book of all books. The laver was a very huge basin made from the brass mirrors of the Israelite women. This basin was the sacred washbowl of the tabernacle used by the priests to cleanse themselves. When the priest went into the tabernacle of meeting, or "when they came near the altar to minister, to burn an offering made by fire to the Lord, they would wash with water, lest they died" read (Exodus 30:20). The Laver was in the tabernacle courtyard between the brazen altar and the door leading to the tabernacle. The bronze laver symbolized the cleansing power of God's Holy word. The great mystery of the laver was that it had no measurements.
Every piece of furniture and other objects in the tabernacle was measured to the "nth" degree with the laver being the exception. Why? Was this, the mystery has a message to it. A measurement meant the object had a limit to it. By not defining the size of the laver, God was saying to us that there is no limit to the cleansing power contained in God's word. I'm so afraid today there is not near enough emphasis placed on the cleansing power of God's word. Read (Hebrews 12:14, Hebrews 4:12-16).
