Children's Letters To God

Dear GOD,
Did you mean for the giraffe to look like that or was it an  accident?   - Norma

Dear GOD,
Instead of letting people die and having to make new ones,  why don't You just keep the ones You have now?  - Jane

Dear GOD,
Who draws the lines around the countries?    -  Nan

Dear GOD,
I went to this wedding and they kissed right in church.  Is that  okay?   -  Neil

Dear GOD,
What does it mean You are a Jealous God?  I thought You had  everything.   -  Jane

Dear GOD,
Did you really mean "do unto others as they do unto you"?  Because if you did, then I'm going to fix my brother!
 - Darla

Dear GOD,
Please send me a pony.  I never asked for anything before, You can look it up.   - Bruce

Dear GOD,
I bet it is very hard for You to love all of everybody in the whole world. There are only 4 people in our family and I can never do it.   - Nan

To See or Not To See

My face in the mirror
isn’t wrinkled or drawn;
My house isn’t dirty
the cobwebs are gone.
My garden looks lovely
and so does my lawn;
I think I might never
put my glasses back on!

Side Pain

At Sunday school they were teaching how God created everything, including human beings. Little Johnny seemed especially intent when they told him how Eve was created out of one of Adam's ribs.

Later in the week his mother noticed him lying down as though he were ill, and said, Johnny what is the matter? Little Johnny responded, "I have a pain in my side. I think I'm going to have a wife."

Momma Mia’s Café

…Find a cozy spot, pour yourself a cup of coffee and let’s sit a spell…

With summer in full swing, I thought it would be good to write about our "time in the sun". Just as many of us enjoy spending time in the SUN during the summer months, we need to spend time in the SON everyday throughout the year!

So often, we can allow our spiritual lives to "relax a little" during the warm summertime just as many of us enjoy relaxing a little in the warm summer sunshine. However, as Christians, we must never allow ourselves to become comfortable with this life on earth, no matter how "warm" it may become. God has called each of us to be soldiers and ambassadors to reach this world while we still have time.

Just as we must have certain equipment when we stay awhile in the sun, there are also some things that will assist us in our spiritual lives. We must wear the right SPF, the "Son's Protection for Fulfillment", to protect us from the harmful rays of the enemy. If we have this SPF, we will have all the joy, peace and fulfillment that we need! The Son's screen is the armor of God. Ephesians 6:11 tells us to "put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes." If we wear the Lord's "Sonscreen", we will be properly protected.

We also need to wearSun Fun sunglasses, or rather Songlasses, which will allow us to see clearly, to have discernment and to perceive things as God sees them. Isaiah 55:8 & 9 and Proverbs 3:5-7 remind us that God's ways are higher than our ways, and we can only be guided in those ways when we trust in Him with all our heart.

We also need the Son's living water, just as we need lots of drinking water when we stay out in the warmth of the sun. This Living Water refreshes our soul and gives us nourishment and strength to do all that is required of us in our daily lives. John 4:13-14 says, "Jesus answered, ‘Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give him will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give him will become in him a spring of water welling up to eternal life."

And just as there is research to prove that we must have a certain amount of daily sunlight to ward off sicknesses such as depression, we must have a certain amount of the SON daily to avoid depression, temptation, and ultimately, eternal destruction! Let us all keep in mind the Son's "equipment" as we face each new day!

While we are spending time in the sun this summer, many of us will find rest and relaxation, maybe listen to some music or read a good book and often times, we will strengthen and nurture a new, or maybe an old, friendship. As Isaiah 40 ;31 so eloquently, it is so important for us to also find our rest in the one true Son, for this is where we will find our joy, peace and fulfillment in life. When in His presence, we need to listen to His voice, His "music" (praise!) and read His Word; even more so, we must spend time with our Heavenly Father to develop, strengthen and nurture our "friendship" and relationship with Him.

So as we look forward to the coming summer days, let us all remember the importance of getting in the SON!

God Bless You!

Love,

"Momma Mia"
