Psalms 1:1-3. Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked or stand in the way of sinners or sit in the seat of mockers. But his delight is in the law of the LORD, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water, which yields its fruit in season and whose leaf does not wither. Whatever he does prospers.

All my life, I wanted to be a head football coach of an NFL team more than anything else. At times, I even wanted it more than God or my family. I bought right into the world’s game plan. In my eyes, being a head coach would give me all the things I wanted, like money and prestige. My goal became an obsession. Read More...

The night was very dark. I found it hard to sleep. It was quiet except for the hum of the car motor. We kids were scrunched up in the back seat of the car. I heard my mom ask, ‘Which way, left or right? Where do we go?’ Read More...

Associate Pastor Wayne DurdenO Zion, You who bring good tidings, Get up into the high mountain;  O Jerusalem, You who bring good tidings, Lift up your voice with strength, Lift it up, be not afraid; Say to the cities of Judah, “Behold your God!” Isaiah 40:9

Oh!  The peace of God, how in the world do people survive without God's peace.  I love what Jesus said in John 14:27, peace I leave with you my peace I give unto you not as the world giveth, give I unto you, let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. In Epesians 6:14,15 Paul talks about having our feet shod with the gospel of peace.  Protective shoes allowed soldiers to go on long journeys over difficult ground to be able to overcome during the days of battle.

Associate Pastor Wayne DurdenThen he said to me, "Do not fear, Daniel, for from the first day that you set your heart to understand, and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard; and I have come because of your words.  But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me twenty-one days; and behold, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me, for I had been left alone there with the kings of Persia. (Daniel 10:12-13)

For the next few weeks lets zero in on the subject that will be a real strength to us if we'll allow.  Please note this, our thoughts will determine our speech.  Our speech can determine our actions, and our actions will certainly determine our destiny, sobering thoughts aren't they?  Our text ask a question, spiritual battles, are they real, in a word " YES."
